The Great New York State Fair at

House Positions are always a treat; whether they are at a permanent venue or a multiday festival. The New York State Fair spans just over 2 weeks, with popular artists like Theory of a Deadman, REO Speedwagon, Lainey Wilson, Ann Wilson, Gayle, Ludacris and Bell Biv Devoe passing through. For me, house gigs are a way to share and exchange ideas and methods, inspire and be inspired by design, and be hospitable to the varying levels of exhaustion the guests may have.
Refining the Busk
Much of my time on GrandMA2 had been spent on Q2Q shows, both corporate and bands. And it’s perfectly fine working with fixed timecodes and fixed schedules, however we know that isn’t always the case. Spending a good amount of time, incorporating and writing my own plugins, allowed for continued refinement into my own busking file. Since this festival, I have rebuilt what would now be my 4th iteration of my busking lighting file-A rabbit hole I don’t always gleam with excitement about.
Fortunately, many artists that year did not bring their own LDs for the evening shows. And boy did I enjoy many of the artists. A mixture of rock, EDM, hip hop, and pop forced my busking hand to become very flexible.
